Day 1 - Train to Aswan and Guided City Sightseeing

Meet the representative at your Luxor hotel and transfer to the railway station for the first-class train to Aswan. On arrival, join your private Egyptologist guide and begin at the Aswan High Dam, where you can see the scale of the modern project and its relationship to Lake Nasser. Continue to the ancient granite quarry to examine the Unfinished Obelisk, still attached to the bedrock after a crack halted the work. Afterward, take the boat to Agilkia Island and walk through Philae Temple, a sanctuary associated with the goddess Isis that was relocated when the river level rose. Stop for lunch, then check in at your Aswan hotel for the night.

Day 2 - Abu Simbel Temples and Return to Luxor

Leave Aswan early after breakfast and drive south with your guide to Abu Simbel. Visit the Great Temple of Ramses II, fronted by four colossal seated figures, and the neighboring temple built for Queen Nefertari. Your guide explains the temples' design, carved scenes and relocation to higher ground during the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Drive back to Aswan for lunch, then board the first-class train to Luxor. A transfer from the station returns you to your hotel and concludes the tour.
